Te event may
be hard work
for
everyone
involved, but it’s worth it. Leeds Fashion Show (LFS) attracts hundreds
of fashion-conscious locals and raises thousands of pounds for charity.
“Tere’s always great music – something up-tempo,” says Rhonda, “but
backstage, it’s very calm and organised.We want the night to go smoothly.
Te models are excited to get out on the catwalk, to strut their stuf. We
practise for a month beforehand, so everybody knows what they’re doing.”
Te Leeds Fashion Show has really developed since it started in
2006. It was originally organised to celebrate founder Anjula Davidson’s
daughter graduating from university and the memory of her other
daughter Alliyah who sadly died.Te event was so successful, Anjula was
inundated with requests to do it again from local designers and fgures
from the city’s business world. She decided to organise the event every year
to celebrate Leeds’ growing presence in the fashion industry.
“It’s gone from strength to strength,” says Rhonda. “We’ve had loads
of support. Our sponsors have been great, too. Tere was a real demand
for this kind of event. Now there are a lot more people involved, more
sponsors and higher expectations than when we started. And it’s a lot more
