WHILE LEEDS HAS LONG BEEN RECOGNISED AS ONE
OF THE BEST SPOTS IN THE UK FOR SHOPPING AND
GOING OUT, THE CITY IS LESS WELL KNOWN FOR
THE AMOUNT OF GREEN SPACE AVAILABLE TO BOTH
RESIDENTS AND VISITORS.
In fact, the city has the most green space in its city limits of any
European city, other than Vienna; greenbelt land covers over two-thirds
of Leeds’ total area; according to a 2008 Children’s Society study, Leeds
has “more public green space per child than any other city in the UK”.
Of course, facts may be one thing, but the parks have to be worth
visiting. And they are. Darren Cronian, author and editor of local blog
My Life in Leeds, picks out some of the city’s best spots for families,
walkers, bikers and wildlife enthusiasts. “I think Leeds has some of the
best parks in Europe, and I love to explore them – these are seven of my
favourites and come highly recommended when visiting the city.”
